Gabrielle Thandiwe Bates (b.2003) is a Gen-Z African-American photographer and visual artist from Atlanta, GA, now based in Manhattan, NY. She is currently pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Arts at NYU Tisch School of the Arts, with a minor in Africana Studies.

Guided by her South African (Zulu) heritage and Black Southern upbringing, Gabrielle creates evocative, narrative-driven photographs that center storytelling as a form of preservation and power. Her work explores the convergence of beauty, the archive, and nature, offering cinematic glimpses into the richness of the Black experience-past, present, and imagined.
