Gabrielle Thandiwe Bates (b.2003) is an African-American photographer and creative producer, born in Atlanta, Georgia, now based in Brooklyn, New York. She is completing her Bachelors of Fine Art at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, studying Photography & Imaging with a concentration in Africana Studies.

Gabrielle is driven by her passion for Black diaspora art making and storytelling. By creating narrative style photographs with a bit of a fictionalized twist. Her work explores the convergence of beauty, the archive, and nature, offering glimpses into the richness of a Black experience-past, present, and imagined.
