Ashinɔ- finding togetherness
These images were taken during my time abroad in Accra, Ghana in 2024. For four months in 2024, this body of work documents the spaces I occupied and moved through, approaching the city through sustained observation and lived experience.”
To My Beloved Ancestor
To my beloved ancestor
I found you in Elmina
I found you in the shadows, smells, and sorrow
I feel you in honor, humbleness, and at home
I see you, we embrace
I know you are there, we are here, in this place
Together
I found our smile, our songs, our joy
I hope to find you elsewhere
I know you follow me
I carry you in my heart
So rest my beloved ancestor as I live on free because of you.
